Behind the scenes of a BCDR plan that works

It’s one thing to read articles and books about disaster recovery and business continuity; but it’s another thing to hear from people who have actually planned and implemented BCDR initiatives. Listen to the Arrow Leadership Call webcast, “Arrow Global BCDR Overview,” and hear firsthand how Arrow ECS tackled their own BCDR planning and implementation.

Webcast speakers Vincent Melvin, Arrow Sr. Vice President and CIO, and Pete Crescenzo, Arrow Vice President of IT Infrastructure, provide an overview of how Arrow approached their own BCDR challenges. Melvin discusses Arrow’s overall goal to proactively minimize and manage interruptions to Arrow operations and how a steering committee, comprised of an Arrow cross-functional team, provides oversight to:

  • Business impact assessments
  • IT disaster recovery
  • Business continuity planning
  • Crisis management

During the webcast you will learn about Arrow’s BCDR journey as technology evolved from tape backup to the Cloud. You will also hear about Arrow’s BCDR design fundamentals consisting of:

  • Business requirement targets
  • Processes
  • Improvements
  • Business validation

Later in the call, Crescenzo presents an overview of Arrow’s data center architecture, including both Arrow’s primary data center and recovery center. You will get insight into what Arrow learned from recent disasters like the Northeast blackout and Hurricane Sandy, as well as the improvements that were made since that time.

Be sure to listen to this archived Arrow Leadership Call webcast, “Arrow Global BCDR Overview,” to find out how Arrow addressed their own BCDR issues and how they are prepared for whatever the future may bring.
